• About Samaritan Fellowship

Since 1958,  Samaritan Fellowship, a Carlisle nonprofit ministry, has strived to carry out the Lord’s admonition to help our neighbor. Our purpose is to help those who have exhausted every available means for providing adequate shelter, utilities, medical care, fuel, vehicle repair, short-term shelter, food, clothing, and other emergency services. We serve families living in the Carlisle Area School District, South Middleton School District, and Middlesex Township.

How Your Support Changed Lives in 2025

In 2025, nearly $200,000 in assistance was provided to individuals, couples, and families facing financial hardship. Thanks to generous donors, 468 people received help with essential needs—most often housing, utilities, and transportation.

Housing Assistance: Meeting the Most Urgent Need

Housing remained the greatest area of need. 228 clients received help with rent, lot rent, or emergency shelter support, totaling $123,000 in assistance.

One example: A young couple with two daughters had fallen behind on rent and needed $1,050 to avoid losing their home. The mother worked in home care, and the father was seeking employment at the Geodis warehouse. After speaking with their landlord, one of our stewards was able to negotiate a temporary payment of $600, giving the family two additional weeks to gather the remaining amount. Samaritan Fellowship paid the $600 directly to the landlord, giving the family the breathing room they desperately needed.

Utilities: Keeping Families Safe and Warm

Utilities are another major challenge—especially for households with children. In 2025, more than 100 people received a combined $40,000 to keep essential services running.

One grandmother caring for her two teenage grandchildren came to us after suffering a fall at work. Facing a shutoff notice, she needed $360 to keep her electricity on while her workers’ compensation claim was being processed. We sent the payment directly to PPL, ensuring her home remained safe and stable during a difficult time.

Transportation: Helping People Stay Employed

Reliable transportation is critical for maintaining employment and stability. Samaritan Fellowship provided $31,000 in 2025 to help with fuel, vehicle registrations, loan payments, and repairs.

One woman needed $476 for new tires so her car could pass inspection. Without the repair, she risked losing her job. With her written estimate in hand, we paid the service station directly, allowing her to stay on the road and continue working without interruption.

Connecting Clients to Additional Resources

In every situation, clients are also guided toward other community resources that may help them address ongoing or future needs. Our goal is not only to provide immediate relief but also to help people move toward long‑term stability.

Your Support Makes All the Difference

Most important, please pray for those in need.    Cost of living is increasing faster than wages, especially lower-income working families.   There is a growing need in our Carlisle community.

If you are able to provide financial support with a donation,  it will have a direct, meaningful impact on the daily lives of people living on the edge of financial crisis.  Everyone at Samaritan Fellowship is deeply grateful for your partnership in this work. Together, we are making a real difference for neighbors in need.

If you have some time or skills, please see our Volunteer tab for ways to assist our mission.

Thank you for your continued support.
