The Samaritan Fellowship, a nonprofit charitable organization, traces its origins to 1958, when it began as a committee within Allison United Methodist Church. In 1962, the program expanded into a community‑based effort with the participation of the United Church of Christ, and additional congregations soon joined. The Fellowship formally incorporated as a nonprofit in 1963.
From its earliest days, the Fellowship met every Saturday morning at Allison United Methodist Church to provide assistance to clients—an unbroken tradition that continued, with very few exceptions, for more than six decades. In June 2013, the Fellowship relocated its Saturday operations to Carlisle United Methodist Church, where it has faithfully continued its mission each week at the church’s South Spring Garden Street campus.
