• About Samaritan Fellowship

Since 1958, the Samaritan Fellowship, a nonprofit ministry, has strived to carry out the Lord’s admonition to help our neighbor. Our purpose is to help those who have exhausted every available means for providing adequate shelter, utilities, medical care, fuel, vehicle repair, short-term shelter, food, clothing, and other emergency services. We serve families living in the Carlisle Area School District, South Middleton School District, and Middlesex Township.

Client Assistance in-person ONLY

Samaritan Fellowship conducts in-person interviews at the new Carlisle United Methodist Church (CUMC) facility located at 333 Spring Garden Street (just past the Giant store on Spring Garden) every Saturday including holidays from 8:30-10am.  Clients should arrive between 7:45 AM – 9:45 AM on Saturday morning for their interview that day allowing time to complete their application and interview before 10am.

Clients should go to the main entrance at the CUMC Worship Center.  We prefer that only the client seeking assistance comes to the interview. Our space to conduct the interviews is limited.  On especially busy Saturdays, we may ask any accompanying family or friends to wait outside the facility.  Masks may be required depending on health guidance in our community for the protection of our clients and volunteers.

Clients will be asked to complete a Samaritan Fellowship application which includes residence history, work history, current finances, and specific need request.   Stewards will review each request with the client to clarify any information and present the request to a Board who will make the decision on the request.  The Board requires complete documentation.    Clients should plan to spend at least an hour, while their request is reviewed and evaluated.   Clients may be asked to return if their documentation is incomplete.

If a client’s need is better addressed by another Carlisle organization such as Community CARES (near homeless or homeless) or Todd Baird Lindsey Devlin Foundation (55+), the Board will make a referral and ask the clients to contact those organizations directly
